Hopeful Hi-jinks: Fans wanted Portland to draft Gonzaga University Bulldogs star Adam Morrison. A Portland radio station even organized a “Draft the ‘Stache’” campaign in reference to Morrison’s thin mustache. But the Trail Blazers selected the taller and bigger Aldridge, who’ll miss the start of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery in late August.
Consensus: The NBA’s worst team should be desperate to win its fans back. Selecting Aldridge was a mistake because Morrison, as a fan favourite, would have drawn the necessary crowds for the hurting team.
